A Passion for Children

By Susanne M. Alexander

Commitment to children shines through Jerry and Marilyn Schneider’s lives - there’s even a playroom at the family-owned Metro Toyota dealership in Brook Park, Ohio.  “We have four children and nine grandchildren, with two more coming,” says Marilyn. “When we come across an organization like the March of Dimes that is so heavily involved in caring for children, that’s very close to our hearts.”  Marilyn serves on the Metro Cleveland board of directors, is a legislative advocate, and both help with fundraising.

In April 2002, the grandchildren, their mothers, and Marilyn participated in the two-mile March of Dimes WalkAmerica and raised over $4,000 for the organization, which promotes health pregnancies and works to eliminate birth defects.  Metro Toyota was, of course, one of their key sponsors.  “We are giving back to something we believe in,” says Jerry.

Marilyn says she’s grateful all their children and grandchildren are healthy, and she’s glad her daughters and daughter-in-laws participated in the walk so they could experience her shared gratitude for this blessing.  “Marilyn and Jerry are passionate for our cause, which is saving babies,” says Katherine Anne Miracle, executive director.  “They are incredible to work with, and they have been instrumental in the success of the March of Dimes in Ohio.”
